Inovasi Audio-Book dan Kitab Braille untuk Penguatan Literasi Keagamaan Santri Tunanetra
Abstract
This community engagement project addresses the limited access to religious literacy among visually impaired students through the development of religious audiobooks and the provision of Braille texts at Pesantren Inklusi Sabilillah, Probolinggo. The initiative responds to the scarcity of independent learning resources for eleven visually impaired students who had relied almost entirely on oral instruction and to the inadequate availability of Braille Qur’anic materials. A mixed-methods design with an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach was employed, encompassing the production of ten audiobook titles, distribution of Braille materials, teacher training, and guided media use. The results demonstrate a substantial increase in religious literacy, with an average gain score of 39.36%, improved learning autonomy among 81.8% of students, and an 80% rate of media integration by teachers. User satisfaction was rated as excellent (students 4.44; teachers 4.60 on a five-point scale). These findings confirm that assistive technology embedded in community empowerment effectively enhances inclusive religious education. In conclusion, audiobook–Braille innovation significantly advances equitable access to faith-based learning and is scalable to other inclusive religious institutions.
