Penguatan Kapasitas Pengelolaan Perbendaharaan Gereja di Jemaat GKI Pengharapan Jayapura
Abstract
Transparent and accountable church financial management is a crucial component of ensuring responsible stewardship of church services to the congregation. However, challenges remain in its implementation, particularly regarding the limited understanding of treasurers, district-level cash managers, church councils, and congregation members in systematically maintaining cash records and preparing financial reports. This community service activity aims to enhance participants’ capacity to manage church funds in an orderly, open, responsible manner, and grounded in Christian values. The activity employs a participatory approach through initial observation, mentoring, hands-on cash bookkeeping practice, group discussions, and guidance on preparing church financial reports. The activity was attended by 47 participants consisting of treasurers and church council members. The results of the mentoring showed an increase in participants’ understanding, with 70% in the “good” category and 30% in the “moderate” category. The level of difficulty in preparing financial reports in accordance with DIRHAM 8 also decreased, with 75% rated as “low” and 25% as “moderate,” thus proving that this activity effectively improved the capacity for church financial management.
